1966 Plymouth Satellite 426 Hemi For Sale or Trade

Rare factory original 426 Hemi. Originally purchased in Southern California in July, 1966, this car comes with the original Chrysler Certicard issued to the first owner. Also comes with original Chrysler Corporation Car Production Broadcast sheet, with factory build codes and other specifications. Powered by 426 c.i.d./425HP 2x4-bbl V8 Hemi (H code for Engine on data plate).

VIN is RP23H67307963, which decodes as follows:
R=Belvedere/Satellite car make
P=Satellite series number
23=2 door coupe body style
H=Engine 426 c.i.d./425hp 2x4bbl V8 Hemi
6=1966 year
7=St. Louis, Missouri assembly plant

Ownership history documented includes: Purchased July 1966 by William J Edgeworth, 6423 Regent, Huntington Park, California (Original Chrysler Certicard). Later sold James Smith of Ontario, California (California registrations from 1980s. Years later, the car was bought by a collector in Massachusetts (Certificate of Title) and then another collector in Maine. Always garaged. In the 1980s, Mr. Smith appears to have raced the car at Orange County International Raceway, with multiple receipts including one with a racing speed clocked at 111mph.

Odometer shows 21,000 which was claimed as original by the previous owner and shown as actual miles on title.

For 1966, Plymouth published a brochure called "The hot ones from Plymouth", describing the building of a street Hemi, first introduced as an option in the '66 Plymouth Belvedere Satellite. To manage the power, Plymouth enlarged the brakes by 35%, complete heavy-duty suspension, torsion bars, springs, shocks and sway bar. Wide-base, Safety-Rim wheels and high speed tires. All Belvedere Satellites came equipped with bucket seats up front, center console with shift lever in the center, padded dash, left outside rear view mirror and distnctive 426 Hemi badging. For the street version of the legendary Hemi, Plymouth featured a 10.25 compression ratio so that it could run on pump gas and not Av-gas, and a choke on the rear primaries, the Belvedere Satellite Hemi was very similar to the Hemi set--up of the speically prepared Daytona stockers and the drag strip top eliminators.

This car is finished in gloss black. There are some minor touch-ups on the back trunk. Features Firestone red line radial tires with Plymouth spinner wheel covers. Handsome embossed black vinyl interior.

1965 Plymouth Satellite - $21,995 - Charlotte, NC -

Mopar's B bodies are a pile of fun, and they just get better when the top goes down. This one's a real looker in WW1-code white with a bold red interior. But the best part might just be that this ultra-rare convertible is available at such an irresistible price.

Plymouth produced less than 2,000 convertible versions of their Belvedere in the premium Satellite trim. That makes this rare, and complete ragtop, the automotive equivalent of a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Take the elements that are already here: the big chrome bumpers, mesh grille, complete brightwork, Magnum 500 wheels, and straight body panels. This makes for the bones of a great head-turning, sunny day cruiser. Or maybe you want to use it as a base to do more. After all, its rarity will always make it a welcomed entry at most car shows.

Just like the exterior, the interior is complete and unique. Its two-tone red bucket seats have an intricate pattern that reminds you this was the premium end of the Belvedere scale. We doubt these seats have been replaced over the car's lifetime, which makes us marvel even more at their nice condition. The same colors are used on the door panels, dash, and center console for a truly cool uniform appearance. When you slip behind the wheel, it instantly feels like premium '60s cruising. The style of the time was chrome, and that's what you get on the full dash (framing the heater and AM radio controls), center console, and even on the inner ring of the steering wheel. That final touch of luxury comes from the remarkably quick power convertible top.

Pop the hood, and the feeling of originality continues. The 273 cubic-inch V8 has a very honest appearance and shows signs of being the original motor. It makes a nice sound when it fires up, of course that could be attributed to the great Cherry Bomb packs on the dual exhaust. We love the idea of this being the kind of convertible that's ready for cruising, and the three-speed automatic goes a long way towards that feeling. The power steering and power brakes are all part of that attitude too.

The price on this complete and rare Plymouth makes this the perfect car for just about everyone. Want a cool cruiser? Want a unique toy at a budget price? Want attention at the car cruise-ins? Anyone answering 'yes' should call us today!

In 1966 the Satellite was redesigned and offered a new “Street Hemi” engine. The new engine featured 10.25:1 compression ratio and two four-barrel carburetors which many claim was conservatively rated at 425-hp. For 1966 only 3,629 Chrysler products were produced with the 426-cid V-8 engine. Production for the first generation Satellite ran through 1967.

This 1966 Plymouth Hemi Satellite was the beneficiary of a frame-off rotisserie restoration in 2013. It is presented in black with a black interior. 1973 Plymouth Satellite - $12,000 - Manchester, NH -

This 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring is an unrestored original car that spent most of its entire life in Iowa. The car has a numbers matching 318 engine. Originally a two barrel that was upgraded by the previous owner in Iowa. They also installed an Edelbrock Four Aluminum intake and new Edelbrock 580 CFM Carb to enhance the performance. The car has all original paint, chrome, stainless, original full tinted glass, 14" Rally wheels with raised white letter radials,. The options are factory air conditioning, power steering, power drum front brakes, vinyl top, AM radio with an old school FM converter, fender mounted turn signals, front bumper guards and cruise control, which was dealer installed.

This unrestored example has an extremely solid body with no areas noticed of any rust, rot or repairs. The exterior body and paint show really nice, showing its beautiful factory finish, doors open and close perfectly, original paint in the door jamb area with original weather-strip and window felts that are excellent. The chrome bumpers still have a nice high luster to them. Also the front grill, head light surround, trim and stainless on the car have a nice shine to them. The car's interior is all original with no wear or tear. Original bench seat, original carpets, factory seat belts, original headliner, door panels, rear package tray, door hardware, dash pad and instrument cluster all have a nice brilliant appearance. The steering wheel is in perfect shape with the original pebble grain.

Definitely a 40,000 mile car - no question when you look closely over the entire car. Looking under the hood you'll notice the aftermarket intake, carb and air cleaner element, basically unrestored, never detailed. Just original. The inner fender aprons and fire wall has nice clean original paint with original fender tag still in place.

We just serviced the car and had to recore the original radiator, oil lube and filter, wiper blades and repair the wiper motor. Looking at the car's brake system, front end, single exhaust system are all in great shape. The car will need new tires due to them showing dry rot from sitting. Air conditioner is functional. Check out the trunk in this car! It's beautiful original paint, no moisture or rust, full size spare with original jack and trunk matt. Awesome original unrestored example for the entry level car enthusiast that is affordable too!
